Talking Heads – Speaking In Tongues

Speaking in Tongues, released in June 1983, marks Talking Heads’ shift toward a more dance-friendly, groove-oriented sound after their collaboration with Brian Eno. Departing from denser experimental textures, the band embraced propulsive rhythms, funk bass lines, and tighter song structures, fueled by contributions from new collaborators such as Bernie Worrell and Alex Weir. The recording process followed a hiatus during which members pursued side projects, giving them space to recombine influences and ideas.
